Two new opportunities in our back-office team
We have two exciting new opportunities to join the Homefields back-office team, supporting the day-to-day running of our busy, family-run business.
We’re looking for organised, professional and friendly people to become an important part of our team.
Homefields has been a family-run Jersey business since 1969. Today, our wholesale business supplies fresh produce and food to businesses across the Island, alongside our growing farm shop.
Despite how the business has grown, we remain an independently owned and operated local business. Our Directors are closely involved in Homefields day to day, and we pride ourselves on having a friendly, supportive and down-to-earth working environment.
We are currently recruiting for two part-time positions:
Grow with us at Homefields
Finance & Accounts Administrator
An important role within our back-office team, taking responsibility for the day-to-day financial administration of Homefields, including bookkeeping, payroll, supplier payments and reconciliations.
Credit Control & Office Administrator
A varied role managing customer accounts and credit control, alongside general office administration and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of our back office.
Finance & Accounts Administrator
Part-time | Approximately 25–30 hours per week | Monday–Friday
We are looking for an experienced Finance & Accounts Administrator to join our back-office team and take responsibility for much of the day-to-day financial administration of Homefields.
This is an important and trusted position within a busy business, dealing with a significant number of suppliers, customers, staff and transactions.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Directors, primarily Catherine, who oversees the finance and administration function. While the Directors remain closely involved and are available to provide support and direction, this is an independent role and we are looking for someone who is comfortable taking ownership of their responsibilities and managing their own workload.
You will work as part of our small back-office team in a friendly and supportive environment.
The role
The position covers the day-to-day financial administration of Homefields, from bookkeeping and purchase ledger through to payroll, supplier payments and reconciliations.
Key responsibilities include:
Day-to-day bookkeeping and maintaining accurate financial records
Managing the purchase ledger from invoices through to reconciliation
Processing, checking and recording supplier invoices
Reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies
Preparing and running BACS and other supplier payments
Bank reconciliations and clearing outstanding discrepancies
Payroll administration, including collating, calculating and maintaining employee payroll information
Updating payroll records and processing employee changes
Preparing payroll reports covering earnings, tax, Social Security and other authorised deductions
Resolving payroll discrepancies and employee payroll queries
Preparing the Manpower Return
Calculating and assisting with GST returns and payments
Farm shop till and payment reconciliations
Managing petty cash
End-of-month accounts administration
Investigating and resolving account queries
Maintaining organised financial records and documentation
Preparing information for our external accountants and year-end accounts
Supporting the wider back-office function where required
About you
We are looking for someone with solid previous experience in bookkeeping, accounts or financial administration who is confident working independently and taking responsibility for their own area.
Accuracy and attention to detail are essential. You should be naturally organised and conscientious, with the ability to recognise when something doesn’t look right and investigate it.
As the position involves access to confidential company, employee and financial information, discretion and professionalism are extremely important.
You should also have good communication and interpersonal skills and be comfortable dealing with colleagues, suppliers, customers and external accountants.
A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office is expected. Previous experience with accounting and payroll software would be advantageous, although training on our particular systems will be provided.
Hours: Approximately 25–30 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Some flexibility around working hours can be discussed for the right candidate.
Salary: Dependent on experience.
Location: Homefields, Jersey. On-site parking available.
Interested?
If you think you could be a good fit for Homefields, we’d love to hear from you.

Credit Control & Office Administrator
Part-time | Approximately 10 hours per week | Monday–Friday
We are looking for a Credit Control & Office Administrator to join our small back-office team, with particular responsibility for customer accounts, credit control and general business administration.
This is a varied role that would suit someone who is organised, confident with people and comfortable taking responsibility for their own workload.
You will report to the Directors and work closely with our Finance & Accounts Administrator and wider management team. Although support is always available, we are looking for somebody capable of working independently and keeping on top of their area of the business without needing constant direction.
The role
A major part of the position will be managing customer accounts and credit control.
Homefields supplies a large number of businesses across Jersey, so maintaining good relationships with our customers is extremely important to us. At the same time, we need someone who is confident and persistent in ensuring accounts are kept up to date and outstanding payments are followed through.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing day-to-day credit control
Monitoring customer accounts and outstanding balances
Sending customer statements and payment reminders
Following up overdue accounts by telephone and email
Allocating and recording customer payments
Investigating invoice and account queries
Resolving discrepancies with customers and our internal team
Maintaining accurate records and notes on outstanding accounts
End-of-month customer account administration
Escalating significantly overdue or problematic accounts to management
Maintaining accurate customer account information
Assisting with account reconciliations where required
Collating, scanning, filing and organising invoices and other business documentation
Answering telephone and email enquiries
Supporting the Finance & Accounts Administrator during busy periods and holidays
General office and administrative duties
Supporting the wider team where required
About you

You should be comfortable working independently as well as being part of a small team, with a willingness to help elsewhere when required.
A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and general IT is expected, with training provided on our internal systems.
